Let’s face it. Some things go on ALL the trips. And we can either spend time pulling it all together every time OR we can get smart and do it once and update as needed. It’s a no-brainer!

Streamline your packing process and ensure you’re always prepared for your travels by creating pre-packed kits that can be easily included in your suitcase trip after trip. From first aid essentials to grooming supplies and beyond, these kits will save you tons of time and hassle, allowing you to focus on…well, the good stuff.

First Aid Kit

Sure, it’s likely to be the least used of any of the kits, but let’s face it- it could be the most missed in the event of an emergency. A comprehensive first aid kit is a must. Include essentials like bandages, adhesive tape, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, tweezers, scissors, and sterile gauze pads.

I also like to include insect repellent, anti-itch/sting wipes, and blister treatment. Then you can customize based on your destination and activities, adding sunscreen, aloe, and any necessary medications for allergies or medical conditions.

Toiletry Kit

Chances are you’re not using travel-sized products at home, so why not stock up and keep them all together in one convenient kit that you can just toss in when you’re ready to go?

Think through what you use daily and weekly in the bathroom: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face cleanser, moisturizer, toothpaste, and dental floss. And don’t forget a toothbrush, razor, hairbrush or comb, and any specialized skincare or haircare products you use regularly.

Pro tip: Consider investing in solid toiletries for a mess-free and TSA-friendly option—perfect for those of us who prefer not to check a bag if we don’t have to!

Medication Kit

Real talk: When you’re sick, the last thing you want to do is have to go on a scavenger hunt to find meds. And that’s IF it’s even an option considering some remote travel can take us away from pharmacy-lined streets.

Here’s what I like to include in my med kit: pain relievers, antacids, motion sickness tablets, allergy medication, cold and flu remedies, and nausea and diarrhea treatment. Then I add any prescriptions.

Pro tip: Pack prescriptions in their original containers with clear labels to avoid confusion. If you need to save room for the rest, there are plenty of multi-divided containers where you can combine—just be sure to label clearly AND make note of the dosages!

Electronics Kit

Rather than diving into the ‘Cord Drawer’ and fishing through what’s what before every trip, organize your electronics and accessories in a dedicated kit to keep them safe and secure during travel. Trust me, you’ll thank me later! Include items such as chargers for your phone, laptop, and other devices, portable power banks, earbuds or headphones, adapters and converters for international travel, and a travel-sized surge protector. I like to also include a compact travel router for reliable Wi-Fi on the go.

Pro tip: Look for plug adapters and converters that have multiple plug styles all in one—space saver AND takes out the guesswork!

Travel Documents Kit

This one can’t necessarily be kept as a kit in between trips, but it’s helpful to have a folder of some sort with a list of possible items for quick reference that helps you quickly pack it when gearing up for a trip.

Essential travel documents should be organized and easily accessible. Include items such as your passport, driver’s license, travel insurance information, itinerary, boarding passes, hotel reservations, and any necessary visas or permits. Consider adding a copy of your passport and emergency contact information for added security.

Snack Kit

Another one you’ll likely add to as needed, but I like to keep some non-perishable snacks in my carry-on/backpack so I’m always ready to fuel myself (and my family!) in a pinch. Items like granola bars, trail mix, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, and protein bars. Inevitably, hunger strikes when we aren’t near a kiosk or in between meals on flights, so having snacks on hand can help prevent meltdowns AND save money on expensive airport or roadside food options.

As travelers, we all know how time-consuming and involved the planning and packing process can be. Anything we can do to streamline and steer the boat downstream is a no-brainer! By creating pre-packed kits for essential travel items, you can save time and ensure you’re always prepared for your adventures. Happy travels! 🌍✈️
